I feel that most people in the United States are trying to be independent. People are moving out from their parents house and getting their own apartments and paying for college on their own. In basic training we were put through training courses that were team dependent and we all had to depend on each other or we weren't going to make it through the course. Everyone wants to be self independent but there is just sometimes that you can't be. Like the 9/11 bombing in New York 500,000 people had to be evacuated but hardly anyone had a boat so they couldn't be independent, all these people had to be dependent on someone else and they didn't care because they wanted to survive.
