Freaks and Geeks Review

While watching the "Freaks and Geeks" episode I noticed the three perspectives and will tell you about them. In the functionalist perspective it tells about how if most people agree then things move smoothly, during the episode the nerds agreed to fight Allen the bully and they all agreed to fight and it flowed pretty smoothly even though Sam didn't show up. Harold Weir always took part at the dinner table telling about how dysfunctional this world is and how this family could be different and that was his part of work in the family.

Conflict Perspective- The guidance counselor found out that Lindsey was acting weird and talked to her about it and found out she just didn't feel comfortable living her life as a nerd. So the guidance counselor let her be about that but then found out she was skipping class and exercised this power by making her go to the school dance.

Interactionist Perspective- The meaning people place on their actions had a lot to do with the freaks and the people Lindsey was getting to hang out with and that's why I think everyone cared so much about why she was hanging out with these kids. The people that she was starting to hang out with did not place any care on their actions they skipped class and did things that most high school kids didn't.

Groups are what this series is based off of such as the groups of "Freaks and Geeks".  The groups are where people feel they fit in and where they feel most comfortable. There are negative influences because some people will change to fit in with a group. Harold has power in the episode because he has power over his children.
A symbol in the episode was the girl coming up to Lindsey and saying that she wanted Lindsey on the math team it was showing that she wanted her to be apart of the group but it showed Lindsey wanted to be apart of a different group.

Yes I can relate some of these things with my life such as acting different around a certain group of people or doing something to impress one certain group of people.
